Pregnant victim dies in tragic Cebu crash

A pregnant woman tragically died, and her partner was critically injured after a passenger van collided with their motorcycle early Thursday, January 16.

The victim, identified as Krystelle Joy Amaca, 30, was riding pillion on the motorcycle driven by her live-in partner, Laurito Bolo, 41. Both were residents of Purok Orchid in Barangay Lagunde, Oslob.

According to police reports, both vehicles were traveling in the same direction when the accident occurred. The van, driven by Alexes Mariveles, 28, from Pilar, Cebu, struck the rear of the motorcycle.

The impact caused the couple to be thrown off their motorcycle and onto the road. Amaca, who was several months pregnant, was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital. Bolo remains in critical condition.

The driver of the passenger van, known locally as a v-hire, is currently in the custody of the Oslob Municipal Police Station. Authorities are investigating the incident to determine potential charges.
