The Masbate Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MASELCO) has restored power in 24 barangays across Masbate province following the devastation caused by Severe Tropical Storm Opong (international name Bualoi).
MASELCO reported on Monday, October 6, that 7.32 percent of the 328 barangays under its coverage now have electricity again. These include 10 barangays in Masbate City, six in Mobo, three each in Mandaon and Uson, and one barangay each in Balud and Cataingan.
Linemen and Task Force restoration teams continue to work around the clock to restore electricity in the remaining affected areas.
The cooperative urged consumers to remain patient, understanding, and cooperative as the restoration continues.
MASELCO also reminded residents to avoid touching or attempting to repair any downed electrical wires near their homes, warning that such actions could result in severe electric shock, injury, or death.
Severe Tropical Storm Opong heavily damaged Masbate’s power infrastructure last month, causing losses estimated at P390.3 million, according to MASELCO.*
