Police in Bacolod City are investigating three possible motives behind the fatal shooting of two brothers by riding-in-tandem suspects.
Police Major Rondyl Tapang, commander of Station 3, confirmed they are focusing on illegal drugs, personal disputes, and possible third-party involvement.
Tapang revealed investigators discovered through backtracking that the brothers allegedly used illegal drugs before leaving a local eatery and heading home.
According to Tapang, suspects closely followed the victims from Barangay Villamonte to Purok Active, Barangay Mandalagan, where the attack occurred.
The gunmen opened fire while the brothers rode their motorcycle, instantly killing Harold, the elder sibling, after sustaining gunshots piercing chest and back.
Harly, the younger sibling, survived despite suffering gunshot wounds on his back and shoulder, and he remains hospitalized under close medical care.
Police retrieved a cellphone from the victims, which investigators believe could yield critical evidence providing additional leads in pursuing possible suspects responsible.
Authorities confirmed the suspects used a Bajaj-type motorcycle during the shooting, and investigators continue reviewing CCTV footage to establish their identities.
Police highlighted their commitment to ensuring justice for the victims’ family, vowing to pursue every angle until suspects are apprehended accordingly.
Tapang urged community members to cooperate with authorities by sharing relevant information that may assist ongoing investigation and help solve the crime.
Authorities further assured the public that the case remains a priority, with investigative teams working diligently to uncover motives and arrest perpetrators.
The family of the victims continues to grieve, while residents expressed fear over violence, urging authorities to strengthen peace and order.
