Police officer and family shot at in Maguindanao

A police officer and his family narrowly escaped a deadly shooting in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, on Monday, December 30.

According to initial reports from local authorities, the incident took place at the Crossing Awang Area when the officer’s family was traveling in a pickup truck. Cpl. Musa, who is based in Tawi-Tawi, was reportedly injured with a gunshot wound to his thigh. Fortunately, both his wife and child were unharmed.

The crime scene yielded more than 20 shell casings, believed to be from a .45 caliber pistol. Authorities have yet to identify the suspects responsible for the attack.

The Datu Odin Sinsuat Police also recovered a motorcycle near the crime scene, which they believe may have been used by the gunmen.

While the police have confirmed that the family members are safe, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Investigators are still working to piece together details and determine whether the attack was personal or related to Musa’s police work.
