Police badge tarnished as cop, companion caught selling gun in Negros Occidental

A patrolman assigned in Cebu City was arrested in his hometown of La Castellana, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday, September 24, after authorities apprehended him and his companion during an alleged gun deal.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group–Negros Island Region teamed up with the La Castellana police to set up the sting along Feria Street in Barangay Robles.

Authorities said the officer, named Genesis, 31, and his accomplice Niño, 31, both from the same town, sold a KG-9 submachine pistol to an undercover agent for P22,900.

Operatives seized the gun with a magazine and 10 rounds of ammunition, a Toyota Vios, marked money, and boodle cash used in the operation.

They further took from the patrolman his government-issued 9mm Gersan pistol, its magazine, five bullets, and holster.

Authorities detained both suspects at the CIDG headquarters in Bacolod City, where they now face criminal charges.*
