PNP officer in Camarines Sur arrested in drug bust

A police officer assigned to the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camarines Sur was arrested during an anti-illegal drug buy-bust operation on March 21.

Authorities conducted the operation in Baao, Camarines Sur, at around 11:20 p.m., leading to the seizure of more than ₱100,000 worth of suspected shabu. Officers also recovered live ammunition and a hand grenade from the suspect.

In a media interview, Camarines Sur Provincial Director PCOL. Virgillo Olalia Jr. emphasized that the PNP remains firm in its anti-drug campaign, regardless of rank or position.

“We have repeatedly warned everyone. This is proof that no one is exempt from our crackdown on illegal drugs,” Olalia stated.

He further stressed that while the PNP protects its personnel, there is no room for rogue officers within their ranks.

The arrested officer is now facing criminal and administrative charges.
