The Philippine National Police has ordered a wider manhunt for the suspects in the killing of Barangay Tres de Mayo Captain Oscar “Dodong” Bucol Jr. in Digos City, Davao del Sur. Acting PNP Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. directed police units to intensify coordination and pursue all available leads as investigators work to identify the gunman and mastermind behind the attack.
According to the PNP, multiple tracker teams from the Davao del Sur Provincial Police Office and neighboring regions have been deployed to expand the search. The agency also activated barangay intelligence networks to gather information that may help speed up the resolution of the case. Police officials said operations will continue around the clock until the suspects are found.
Authorities confirmed that the reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible has reached five million pesos. The amount includes one million pesos each from Captain Bucol’s family, Vice President Sara Duterte, Davao del Sur Governor Yvonne Cagas, and former governor Claude Bautista.
On Thursday night, Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte committed an additional one million pesos, bringing further support to the ongoing search efforts. Officials said the reward aims to encourage witnesses to come forward and assist investigators in identifying the assailants.
The killing of Captain Bucol has drawn public attention as police continue to piece together evidence and testimonies related to the attack. The PNP assured residents that progress is being made and emphasized that all efforts are focused on finding those responsible.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to coordinate with local police or the nearest station as the investigation continues.
