The Philippines will acquire 12 FA-50 Block 70 light combat aircraft from Korea Aerospace Industries, Ltd., the Department of National Defense (DND) announced.
The purchase is part of the ongoing modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, particularly the Philippine Air Force.
DND Assistant Secretary Arsenio Andolong confirmed that the Notice to Proceed was issued this month, covering a contract worth over USD 700 million.
The comprehensive package includes mission equipment, integrated logistics support, and training and logistics information systems.
The FA-50 Block 70 is the latest evolution of the FA-50 platform. It features modern avionics, advanced radar systems, and extended operational range. These upgrades are expected to significantly strengthen the country’s air defense, aligning with the DND’s Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept.
The aircraft are scheduled for delivery over the next five years, with the full delivery expected to be completed by 2030.
