Malacañang has urged the public to collaborate with the government rather than foster resentment, following recent remarks by Vice President Sara Duterte.
Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro made the statement in response to Duterte’s speech in Cebu, where she emphasized that Filipinos have the right to express frustration with the government, citing freedom of speech and expression.
Duterte argued that public grievances are essential in conveying citizens’ true sentiments to the administration. However, Castro expressed disappointment that such encouragement came from the country’s second-highest official.
During a press briefing, Castro stressed that fostering cooperation would be more beneficial for national progress. She warned against narratives that could weaken the government and called for unity instead.
She said that the government needs the people’s support to uplift the nation rather than allowing forces that aim to weaken it.
