Pakistani national shot by motorcycle-riding suspects in Davao City

A Pakistani national was wounded after he was shot by still unidentified riding-in-tandem suspects inside a residential subdivision in Davao City on Friday afternoon, police said.

The incident occurred past 2 p.m. at Deca Homes in Barangay Tacunan, Tugbok District. The victim was identified as Afraz, 29, a businessman and resident of Barangay Ula.

According to police investigation, Afraz had just finished trimming his mustache at a barbershop located across the area where his vehicle was parked. After returning to his car and sitting in the driver’s seat, two men riding a motorcycle reportedly approached him.

Police said the suspects suddenly opened fire, hitting the victim three times before fleeing toward the direction of Barangay Ula. Afraz sustained gunshot wounds to his back and left shoulder.

Despite his injuries, the victim was still able to drive himself to a nearby hospital with the assistance of his employee. He was later transferred and admitted to the Southern Philippines Medical Center for further medical treatment and observation.

Responding police officers recovered three empty cartridge cases of a .45-caliber firearm at the crime scene. The ballistic evidence will be subjected to forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities said efforts are continuing to identify the suspects and determine the motive behind the shooting. No arrests have been reported as of this writing.

Police urged anyone with information related to the incident to coordinate with authorities as the investigation remains ongoing.
