A motorcycle driver died following a head-on collision with another motorcycle early Tuesday morning, July 1, 2025, in Legazpi City.
According to the Legazpi City Police Station, the crash happened at around 3:55 a.m. along Rizal Street, Purok 4, Barangay 18, Cabangan West. The fatality was a resident of Bagong Sirang, Barangay Estanza, and was driving one of the motorcycles.
Initial police investigation showed that the two motorcycles were traveling in opposite directions. The victim attempted to overtake another vehicle but ended up colliding with the oncoming motorcycle, which was driven by a private employee from Barangay 13, Ilawod West.
Both drivers were brought to a hospital for medical treatment, but one of them was declared dead on arrival.
Authorities have yet to release the identities of those involved. The investigation is ongoing to determine whether speed, visibility, or other factors contributed to the incident.
Police are reminding motorists to exercise extreme caution when overtaking and to follow road safety rules, especially during early morning hours.
