October 31 declared holiday nationwide

Malacañang has officially declared October 31, 2025, as an additional special non-working day across the Philippines through Proclamation No. 727.

The government made the declaration to allow Filipinos sufficient time to prepare for and observe All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, collectively known as Undas or Kalag-Kalag.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. signed the proclamation, ensuring that citizens can spend quality time with their families while honoring departed loved ones.

The special holiday falls on a Friday, creating a long weekend from October 31 to November 2, 2025, giving travelers more opportunity to visit provinces and cemeteries early.

Malacañang emphasized that the move aims to ease congestion in cemeteries and terminals during the peak of Undas observance.

The government encourages everyone to use the additional day to clean family graves, prepare offerings, and observe traditions safely and responsibly.

Local government units across the country are expected to coordinate with law enforcement agencies to ensure peace and order during the observance.

Meanwhile, transportation and emergency units will be on full alert to accommodate the expected influx of travelers heading to their hometowns.

The declaration aligns with the long-standing Filipino tradition of honoring the dead, reflecting the nation’s deep respect for faith, family, and remembrance.
