Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Nicolas Torre has called on former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque to surrender and face the human trafficking case filed against him.
During a press briefing, Torre said Roque could no longer use rallies or public demonstrations to avoid the charges. He stressed that the former Palace official must face the issue legally and present his defense in court.
Authorities have already arrested several of Roque’s co-accused, including Cassandra Ong. The ongoing operations have resulted in a series of arrests linked to the same case.
As the investigation deepens, the PNP is now considering coordination with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) to possibly bring Roque back to the country, should he be found abroad.
Roque has yet to issue an official statement in response to the charges or the PNP chief’s public appeal.
The human trafficking case is among the most serious accusations Roque has faced since leaving his post as the spokesperson for former President Rodrigo Duterte.
The PNP has not disclosed further details regarding the specifics of the case or the identities of all co-accused, citing ongoing legal procedures.
