A 22-year-old jeepney conductor died two days after falling from a moving modernized jeepney while collecting fares in Bacolod City.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Ramil Sarona, head of the Traffic Management Unit (TMU) of the Bacolod City Police Office, said doctors at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) declared Reynan Bantilan dead at 12:30 pm on March 6, 2025.
Bantilan, a resident of Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, worked as a conductor for RSJ Lines, which operates the Homesite-Central Market route.
According to TMU’s investigation, he fell from the moving jeepney while collecting fares around 6:00 p.m. on March 4, 2025, along Burgos Street, Barangay Villamonte.
Sarona said Bantilan failed to notice the open door, lost his balance, and hit his head on the pavement.
The modernized jeepney operator promised to assist Bantilan’s family.
Meanwhile, authorities released the driver after the reglementary detention period, as he maintained that the incident was purely accidental.
