A motorcycle rider died after crashing along Barangay Maya, Daanbantayan, Cebu, at around 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 6.
The victim was identified as 43-year-old Ramon Briones, a resident of the area.
According to an initial investigation by the Daanbantayan Municipal Police Station, Briones was heading home from Medellin when the accident occurred.
While passing through the area, a stray goat suddenly crossed the road. Briones attempted to avoid it but lost control of his motorcycle, causing him to crash and be thrown off his bike.
Bystanders rushed to help and called emergency responders. Briones was immediately taken to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by doctors.
Authorities are investigating whether the goat had an owner and if there was any negligence involved in the incident. Meanwhile, local officials are reminding the public to keep livestock off public roads to prevent similar accidents.
