Mother nabbed in drug bust, 3 children left with neighbors

A 26-year-old mother was arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Station Drug Enforcement Team of Bacolod City Police Station 2 in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, on Wednesday night, May 27.

Authorities identified the suspect only through the alias “Ana.”

Police confiscated several packets of suspected shabu weighing around 200 grams with an estimated standard drug price of P1,360,000.

The anti-drug operation was carried out at around 9 p.m., according to authorities.

In an interview with Brigada News FM Bacolod, Police Major Eugene Tolentino said the suspect has three minor children.

Following the arrest, the children were temporarily placed under the care of neighbors, including the suspect’s 3-year-old child.

Authorities did not disclose additional details regarding the condition of the children or whether relatives had already coordinated with social welfare personnel following the operation.

The suspect is now facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Police have not yet released further information regarding the possible source of the confiscated illegal drugs or whether other individuals are involved in the case.

The confiscated substances will undergo laboratory examination as part of the investigation and filing of charges.

Authorities continue to intensify anti-drug operations in Bacolod City as part of ongoing efforts against the illegal drug trade in the area.

No other arrests were reported in connection with the operation as of Thursday.

The suspect remains under police custody pending the filing of formal charges before the appropriate court.
