Mother in Davao City turns in own son after ₱1.5M marijuana found in his bag

A mother in Bunawan, Davao City reported her son to police after discovering a large block of marijuana worth an estimated ₱1.5 million in his bag.

Authorities said the incident happened at around 11 a.m. on August 10. The mother, identified only as “Alice,” called the Bunawan Police Station to report her 20-year-old son, identified only by the alias “Angel,” after noticing his unusual behavior.

Alice told police she became suspicious when she saw her son acting nervous. Upon checking his bag, she found a block of marijuana and immediately sought police assistance.

Responding officers arrived promptly at the scene. In a photograph from the arrest, his mother can be seen wiping her son’s face while he was already in police custody.

Investigators confirmed the seized marijuana block was valued at about ₱1.5 million. Authorities are now tracing the source of the illegal substance.

The suspect is currently detained and facing charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. Police have not released further details about potential links to broader drug operations.
