More celebrities criticize Cong. Suntay over remarks about Anne Curtis

Several celebrities have also criticized Bong Suntay following his controversial remarks about actress Anne Curtis during the House Committee on Justice hearing on March 3.

Among those who expressed criticism were Nadine Lustre, Bianca Gonzales, Gabbi Garcia, and Amy Perez.

It can be recalled that during the hearing on the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte, Suntay shared that he once felt “desire” and a sense of “heat” after seeing Curtis at a hotel. He cited the example to argue that a statement should not automatically lead to a case if it only exists in one’s “imagination.”

In her Instagram Stories, Lustre said that people who openly display disrespect toward women are what truly make one feel heated, adding that such behavior should not be normalized.

Meanwhile, Garcia also issued a statement, bluntly describing the remark as “disgusting.” She emphasized that women should not be treated as subjects of imagination, especially by individuals holding positions in government.

For her part, Gonzales posted on X that the statement was “disgusting” and unacceptable coming from a public servant, particularly since Suntay has shown no remorse over the comment.

Curtis’ It’s Showtime co-host Perez also expressed disappointment, stressing that true respect for women means recognizing their dignity and not reducing them to jokes or personal fantasies.
