Missing uncle and niece found dead in Matalam, North Cotabato

A missing uncle and niece were found dead in Matalam, North Cotabato, days after they were first reported missing in Barangay Noa, Magpet, North Cotabato.

The first body discovered was that of the 20-year-old uncle, identified as Jojie, also known as “Dede,” whose remains were found in Barangay Marbel on Tuesday.

By early morning the next day, the Matalam Police confirmed the discovery of the second victim, a 13-year-old girl identified only as Elma, a student and the niece of the first victim. Her body was also found within the same municipality.

Police investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death and whether the incident involved self-harm or foul play. Authorities are likewise tracing the location of the motorcycle reportedly used by the two before they went missing.

Reports state that the victims were last seen around 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2025, riding a motorcycle after telling relatives they were going to buy meat in Magpet. Witnesses later claimed to have seen them in Greenhill, President Roxas, and Antipas, allegedly heading toward Arakan.
