Missing fisherman found after 5 days at sea near Bajo de Masinloc

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued a missing fisherman after five days at sea during maritime patrol and search and rescue operations in the waters off Bajo de Masinloc, Zambales on March 20, 2026.

The fisherman, a 32-year-old resident of Wawanway, Subic, Zambales, was reported missing after his service boat, “Bebelot,” operating under FB Gabriel Geruz 6, failed to return as scheduled. Authorities received information about the fisherman’s last known position through coordination with BRP Cape San Agustin.

Upon arrival at the reported location, the PCG initiated search operations in the surrounding waters. During the operation, responders located the missing service boat approximately 78.98 nautical miles west of Capon Grande, Zambales.

At around 4:07 p.m., coast guard personnel successfully rescued the fisherman. He was immediately given medical assistance onboard the responding vessel following his recovery.

The service boat used by the fisherman was also secured and taken onboard by the rescue team to ensure safe transport back to shore.

Following the rescue, BRP Cabra departed the area and proceeded toward Subic, Zambales. Authorities confirmed that the rescued fisherman will be turned over to the appropriate personnel upon arrival.
