Two siblings, both minors, were tragically killed in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur police reported. The victims, identified as Johari and Hamod Moksin from Brgy. Kulalo, Mamapasano, were traveling north in a black car when masked gunmen attacked.
According to Lt. Col. Regie Albellera, Chief of Shariff Aguak Municipal Police Station (MPS), the incident occurred around 5:40 p.m. The victims’ car was intercepted by a white, unmarked minivan, which overtook them before two masked individuals emerged and began firing at close range.
Police recovered 18 shell casings at the crime scene. Authorities confirmed that both victims were transported to the Maguindanao Provincial Hospital but were declared dead on arrival due to the severity of their injuries.
A joint investigation and pursuit operation is underway by Shariff Aguak MPS to locate and apprehend those responsible. The authorities have not disclosed any potential motives or identified suspects in the case, fueling speculation and intensifying the community’s demand for answers and swift justice.
This ambush highlights ongoing concerns over violence in the region, with the public calling for heightened security measures to prevent further bloodshed. The incident also raises questions about the safety of young residents in areas plagued by conflict.
