President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. completed final preparations Sunday for his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA), which he is scheduled to deliver Monday afternoon.
Photos released by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) and the president’s official social media accounts showed behind-the-scenes moments as Marcos reviewed and polished his speech before addressing Congress.
Marcos previously said this year’s SONA would serve as a comprehensive report to the Filipino public on how his administration responded to the challenges faced by the country over the past year.
The annual address is expected to outline the government’s accomplishments, priorities, and plans moving forward.
The public is also watching whether the president will deliver another strong statement similar to remarks that drew attention during his 2025 SONA.
During last year’s address, Marcos publicly criticized corrupt government officials and contractors allegedly involved in anomalies and ghost flood control projects. His statement, “Mahiya naman kayo!” became one of the most memorable lines from the speech and was widely discussed afterward.
Aside from highlighting the administration’s campaign against corruption, Marcos also cited several government initiatives during his 2025 SONA. These included the expansion of the Kadiwa program, the launch of the Presidential Scholarship Program, and the continuation of major livelihood-related projects across the country.
This year’s SONA is expected to provide the administration’s latest assessment of national issues and present its response to challenges encountered since the previous address.
The speech will also serve as the president’s official report to the nation on the government’s performance and priorities as his administration enters another year in office.
