President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. accused Former President Rodrigo Duterte of lying on his remarks about the alleged irregularities in the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
Marcos reacted to Duterte’s allegations that there are irregularities in the 2025 budget as some items were left blank and no amount indicated.
“He’s lying. He’s a president. He knows that you cannot pass GAA with a blank. He’s lying,” President Marcos said in an interview with reporters in Taguig City.
“ Sa buong kasaysayan ng buong Pilipinas, hindi pinapayagan na magkaroon ng item ang GAA ng hindi nakalagay kung ano yung project at saka ano yung gastos . Ano yung pondo. So it’s a lie,” Marcos said.
Prior to this Former President Duterte and Davao City Third District Representative Isidro Ungab alleged that the 2025 GAA was signed with several blank items which they described as “invalid” and “unenforceable”.
Duterte then called on Marcos to rectify the errors committed.
“ Please correct it, or recall the budget and demand an explanation kung bakit dumating sa inyo yan na ganun kablangko. Parang binigyan ka ng blangkong tseke dyan bahala na kayo ano ilagay niyo,” Duterte said.
Earlier Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin also accused the former president of peddling fake news which he described as malicious and condemnable.
