Man shot in Davao del Norte bar after alleged song-grabbing incident

A man was hospitalized early Sunday after he was shot inside a bar in Purok Bayanihan, Magugpo West, Tagum City, Davao de Norte. The incident occurred at about 1:45 a.m. on December 1, according to a report released by the Tagum City Police Station.

Police identified the victim as Christian Seguira, 25, a resident of Upper Sudlon, Barangay Central in Mati City, Davao Oriental. Investigators said the altercation began when Seguira allegedly grabbed a song that was not his to perform while drinking with friends inside a private room of the establishment.

According to a waitress identified only as Cherry, the victim and his companions had been drinking when occupants at a nearby table reportedly became irritated over the song-grabbing incident. The report stated that tensions escalated after the other group grew upset over Seguira taking the song they had selected.

Police said the suspect approached Seguira, drew a firearm, and shot him in the face. The victim was immediately brought to the Davao Regional Medical Center, where he remained under medical care as of the latest police update.

Responding officers said they recovered a spent cartridge believed to be from a .45-caliber pistol at the scene. Investigators are continuing their follow-up operations to determine the full circumstances of the shooting and identify the suspect.

Authorities have not released further details as the investigation remains ongoing.
