Man shot dead by riding-in-tandem assailants in South Cotabato

A 42-year-old man was shot dead by riding-in-tandem assailants in Barangay El Nonok, Banga, South Cotabato, around 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Police identified the victim as Andy Palencia Sorongon, a resident of Purok Katipunan in the same barangay.

According to an initial investigation by the Banga Municipal Police Station, Sorongon was riding his motorcycle when two unidentified suspects suddenly opened fire. The gunmen quickly fled in an unknown direction after the shooting.

The victim sustained three gunshot wounds that caused his instant death. Responding officers recovered two spent shells and one live ammunition from a .45-caliber firearm at the crime scene.

Authorities are conducting a follow-up investigation and a hot pursuit operation to identify and arrest the suspects behind the attack.

Police have yet to determine the motive for the shooting.
