Malacañang reminds senators to stay neutral in VP Sara Duterte impeachment

Malacañang has reminded several senators to remain fair and impartial as they take on their roles as judges in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.

The Palace issued the reminder after some senators, including Senator Imee Marcos and Senator Robin Padilla, openly showed support for the Vice President despite the ongoing impeachment process.

In a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Claire emphasized that the law clearly requires senator-judges to remain neutral when handling impeachment cases.

“They should at least show some sense of propriety,” Claire said, adding that senators should avoid making public statements that may appear biased toward the Vice President.

The Palace also urged lawmakers to respect the Filipino people, stressing that public officials should serve the nation, not just one individual.

Malacañang did not name other senators but maintained that fairness and neutrality are essential throughout the impeachment proceedings.
