Malacañang has directed government agencies to prepare for the expected increase in travelers during Undas by strengthening security, providing additional transportation and ensuring assistance for stranded passengers.
Executive Secretary Ralph Recto instructed the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and other agencies to ensure sufficient personnel and services at airports, seaports and bus terminals nationwide.
Preparations include deploying additional police officers and K-9 units at major terminals and ports. The Philippine National Police will also intensify patrols and inspections to strengthen security during the travel period.
The DOTr was instructed to prepare additional buses and ships in case regular transportation services cannot accommodate passenger demand.
Meanwhile, the DSWD will prepare food, drinking water and other forms of assistance for passengers who may become stranded because of bad weather, transportation shortages or other disruptions.
The Department of Health will deploy medical teams and provide emergency assistance to travelers who need medical attention.
Government agencies were also directed to ensure that passengers receive clear information about travel schedules and destinations.
Personnel will be available to assist senior citizens, persons with disabilities, pregnant women and families traveling with young children.
The preparations aim to address the expected passenger surge during Undas, when Filipinos travel to visit cemeteries and remember deceased relatives.
The directives cover transportation, security, medical services and emergency assistance at major travel hubs across the country.
Authorities are preparing additional resources to help manage passenger demand and respond to possible disruptions during the holiday period.
The government has emphasized the need for adequate staffing and services to assist travelers, particularly those who may encounter delays, transportation shortages or other difficulties during their journeys.
