LGUs urged to prepare for expected super typhoon this weekend

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has called on all local government units (LGUs) to prepare for the expected landfall of severe tropical storm “Uwan” as it approaches the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

In a statement, the DILG urged LGUs to take precautionary measures, including clearing waterways and drainage systems, inspecting roads and bridges, and ensuring that evacuation centers are stocked with essential supplies.

The agency also directed LGUs to keep emergency response teams and rescue units on standby, along with rescue equipment and relief goods for immediate deployment once the storm hits.

The department emphasized that preparedness saves lives, urging LGUs to act early to prevent casualties.
