Lawmaker: PBBM should also raise wages for Filipino workers

House Deputy Speaker and TUCP party-list Rep. Raymond Democrito Mendoza stressed that President Bongbong Marcos should avoid having a double standard when it comes to wage increases.

This comes after the salary hike granted to military and uniformed personnel (MUP).

According to Mendoza, if the government can afford to raise the salaries of uniformed personnel, it should also do the same for Filipino workers.

While acknowledging the service and sacrifice of the men and women in uniform, he emphasized that the more than five million minimum wage earners—who work tirelessly yet receive meager pay—must not be forgotten.

The lawmaker reiterated that workers who continue performing their duties despite the hunger and hardships faced by their families deserve acknowledgment and reward.

Mendoza added that while boosting the morale of police and military personnel is important, Filipino workers also need greater support because they play an equally vital role in society.
