Sparkle actress Klea Pineda called out a netizen for making a joke about her father’s disability.
In an Instagram Story, Pineda shared a post from her younger sibling showing their exchange with a netizen who asked why their father was missing part of his ear.
Her sibling explained that their father was born with microtia, a condition in which the external part of the ear does not fully develop.
However, the netizen made a joke, saying they initially thought the missing ear had been turned into sisig, prompting Pineda to speak out.
Pineda stressed that microtia is a congenital condition and should not be treated as something shameful or made the subject of ridicule.
She also emphasized that a person’s disability should never be used as a joke or insult, particularly as a means of attacking another individual.
The actress maintained that her father’s disability is not something to be laughed at and that making fun of it does not make anyone funnier or a better person.
