Kathryn Bernardo and Mark Alcala, mayor of Lucena City, once again became a trending topic online after a video of them together inside a shopping mall circulated on social media.
In the clip, the actress can be seen standing near an elevator while the mayor was taking a photo with a fan. They were also seen walking around the mall while holding ice cream.
Because of this, the video drew mixed reactions from netizens, with some saying the two may no longer be hiding their relationship.
However, several netizens expressed opposition to the possibility of the two being in a relationship, with some claiming that Alcala appears to be more of a “red flag” than Kathryn’s former boyfriend, Daniel Padilla.
Some users also criticized the mayor and labeled him a “trapo”.
Meanwhile, others speculated online that Kathryn may have been the first to give up on her past relationship with Daniel, but that it was made to appear that Daniel was at fault in order to protect the actress’ public image.
Despite the criticisms, some netizens also showed support for the Box Office Queen of Her Generation, saying they are happy for whoever Kathryn chooses to be with in this new chapter of her life.
Kathryn and Alcala previously trended in July 2025 after they were spotted together at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz also earlier reported that the two were allegedly seen together in Bonifacio Global City in June, though no photos were taken as they reportedly left quickly in a van.
As of now, Kathryn has remained silent, while Mayor Alcala has also not issued any statement regarding the circulating video.
