Authorities arrested three individuals, including a high-value drug personality, during a buy-bust operation that seized P1.7 million worth of suspected shabu. The raid took place Tuesday morning, January 21, at a hotel in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City.
The Bacolod City Police Office’s City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) identified the suspects as “Fredo,” 51, classified as a high-value drug target, and two women, “Iya,” 18, and “Shaba,” 23.
Police reports revealed that Fredo allegedly recruited the two women into the illegal drug trade, using them as intermediaries in his transactions. Authorities confiscated approximately 250 grams of suspected shabu, packaged for distribution, during the operation.
Police have filed charges against the suspects for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Investigators are pursuing leads on Fredo’s alleged involvement in a larger drug syndicate operating in the region.
The arrest has raised concerns among local officials and residents, particularly about the growing involvement of young women in drug-related activities. Bacolod City Police have reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations to curb the illegal drug trade in the area.
The suspects are currently in police custody as the investigation continues.
