A 1-year-old boy drowned in a water-filled bucket on Tuesday morning, January 21, in Barangay San Isidro, Sagbayan, Bohol.
The victim, identified as John Andrei, was reportedly playing outside with his siblings while their parents ate breakfast at their grandmother’s nearby house.
According to Police Captain Eric Binangbang, chief of the Sagbayan Police Station, a neighbor noticed the toddler playing with water in a bucket behind their house and informed the parents.
The parents immediately sent their 5-year-old child to check on the youngest sibling. Tragically, they discovered John Andrei headfirst inside the bucket.
The child was still breathing when rushed to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
