Grandmother stabbed to death by own grandson in Bacolod City

A 66-year-old grandmother was fatally stabbed by her own 19-year-old grandson following a heated argument in SP Village, Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City, on Sunday morning, February 23.

The victim, identified as Erna, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital after sustaining multiple stab wounds.

According to Police Captain Greeky Cayao, chief of Police Station 8, the altercation reportedly started over a cellphone dispute. During the argument, the suspect grabbed a knife and repeatedly stabbed his grandmother.

Neighbors reported hearing the victim cry out in pain, asking her grandson why he stabbed her. Witnesses also confirmed that she suffered multiple wounds before she collapsed.

Authorities revealed that the suspect has a history of mental illness.

The police are now conducting a thorough investigation into the case while the suspect remains in custody.
