Grade 9 student killed in Cebu motorcycle crash

A Grade 9 student was declared dead on arrival at a hospital after the motorcycle she was riding skidded and crashed early Saturday in Brgy. Banhigan, Badian, Cebu.

Police identified the victim as “Claire,” 19, a Grade 9 student and resident of Badian. The crash happened in the early hours of Saturday, Dec. 20.

Based on the initial police investigation, the motorcycle was being driven by a 20-year-old man. Authorities said the motorcycle was traveling at a fast speed when the accident occurred.

Police noted that the road was slippery at the time due to rain. When the motorcycle reached the area of the incident, it skidded, causing Claire, who was riding as a passenger, to be thrown from the vehicle.

She sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.

A cousin of the victim told authorities that they had come from a drinking session before the crash happened. Police recorded the statement as part of their investigation.
