Government worker arrested in Digos City drug buy-bust

Authorities arrested a government employee during a buy-bust operation conducted by anti-drug operatives in Barangay Zone 2 on the evening of Feb. 5, 2026.

Operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 11, working with the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office, carried out the operation at around 8:15 p.m. in Purok Bayanihan.

The suspect, identified by the alias “Kol,” 59, and described as a provincial government employee, was apprehended after allegedly selling one plastic sachet containing suspected shabu worth ₱8,000 to an undercover PDEA operative.

Authorities said additional items were recovered during the operation, including five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu with an estimated total weight of about nine grams. The seized substances had an estimated street value of ₱72,000. Drug paraphernalia and marked buy-bust money were also confiscated.

The suspect is expected to face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended.

PDEA Regional Director Gaspi said the arrest underscores law enforcement efforts to curb illegal drugs and maintain community safety. He said authorities remain committed to pursuing operations against illegal drug activities in the region.

The operation was part of ongoing anti-drug enforcement efforts in Davao del Sur. Officials did not release further details about the suspect pending the filing of formal charges.

The seized items were turned over to authorities for documentation and laboratory examination as part of the case preparation against the suspect.
