Former Rep. Salceda Backs Recto’s Appointment as New Executive Secretary

Economist and former lawmaker Joey Salceda believes that newly appointed Executive Secretary Ralph Recto is someone President Bongbong Marcos can trust to engage with key political actors.

This comes after Malacañang decided to appoint Recto to replace former ES Lucas Bersamin, who resigned following allegations of corruption.

According to Salceda, Recto understands that for any administration to achieve political success, nothing can substitute for strong economic outcomes.

Ultimately, he said, “it is about the economy.”

Salceda also expressed support for the appointment of Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go as the new Secretary of the Department of Finance, replacing Recto. He likewise backed the selection of Rolando Toledo as the officer-in-charge of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) following the resignation of Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.
