A late-night fire killed an 84-year-old woman after it burned down her home in Ruiz Subdivision, Purok 6, Barangay Talubangi in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday, November 26.
Police said the fire started at 8:15pm on November 26, 2025, and a resident reported it at 8:20pm.
Investigators found that the blaze totally burned the house owned and occupied by Adelfa Ruiz, a widower and resident of the subdivision.
The fire killed Ruiz instantly, leaving her completely burned inside the structure.
Firefighters declared the fire out at 1:25am on Thursday, November 27.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is investigating what caused the incident, while authorities continue to assess the cost of property damage.*
