A gruesome family tragedy unfolded early Friday morning in Purok 1A, Gapas, Barangay Madaum, Tagum City, Davao del Norte when a father was brutally killed by his son.
The victim, identified as Loloy Barles, was found in a pool of blood with his head severed. According to initial reports from the Tagum City Police Station, the suspect, Barlono Barles, allegedly attacked his father with a machete before beheading him.
Witnesses and police recovered shocking evidence at the crime scene, including photos showing the victim’s disemboweled body. One particularly disturbing detail is the discovery of the victim’s heart, reportedly hung on a nearby tree branch by the suspect.
Authorities also found tools believed to have been used in the crime, including a sickle, a bolo knife, and a hammer. The motive remains unclear, but investigators are exploring whether the suspect may have been suffering from a mental health condition.
“This level of violence is not typical of a sane person,” one police officer remarked, highlighting the unusually brutal nature of the crime.
The suspect was apprehended shortly after the crime and is now in the custody of Tagum Police. A deeper investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the murder.
