A former freelance radio broadcaster was shot dead inside a massage spa along Calina Street, Barangay Lagao, General Santos City, on Monday morning, June 23.
The victim, identified as Ali Macalintal, who now worked as a freelance massage therapist, was attending to a scheduled client when a man pretending to be a customer arrived and specifically requested Macalintal’s service. Since he was still busy with his current client, Macalintal asked the man to wait.
Shortly after, multiple gunshots were heard inside the spa. Witnesses saw the suspect flee the scene with another man, believed to be a lookout, who waited outside on a motorcycle.
Macalintal was found drenched in his own blood and was rushed to the nearest hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
His colleague revealed that Macalintal had previously shared receiving several death threats, which had caused him significant stress in recent days.
Initial police reports from PMaj. Ulf Tabucon, chief of Lagao Police Station, confirmed the victim sustained gunshot wounds to the chest, stomach, and other parts of his body.
Authorities continue to investigate the case to identify the suspects and determine the motive behind the killing.
