Allies of former President Rodrigo Duterte are set to file an impeachment complaint against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the House of Representatives.
Former Undersecretary Ronald Cardema and his wife, Duterte Youth Party-list Representative Marie Cardema, went to the House of Representatives on Thursday to file the complaint against the president for allegedly allowing the arrest of former President Duterte.
According to a document posted on former undersecretary Cardema’s social media account, he stated that President Marcos should be removed from office for violating the Constitution by allowing the International Criminal Court (ICC) to arrest former President Duterte.
Cardema claims these actions by the president constitute Culpable Violation of the Constitution and Betrayal of Public Trust, which are grounds for impeachment.
However, House Secretary General Reginald Velasco was not available in his office to receive the complaint.
Notably, the House of Representatives has only six session days left before the 19th Congress adjourns.
