DSWD, PNP build case vs fake Pampanga collapse survivor

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is coordinating with the Philippine National Police (PNP) in building a case against a man arrested for allegedly pretending to be a survivor of the collapsed building in Pampanga.

In an interview, DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao said the agency is taking action because such incidents should not be allowed to go unpunished.

She explained that the move aims to prevent other individuals or groups from exploiting tragedies in order to obtain government assistance.

The DSWD reminded the public that there are proper channels for seeking government aid, including specific procedures and documentary requirements that applicants must comply with.

The agency also assured the public that it is strengthening its verification processes to ensure that assistance reaches those who genuinely need and deserve it.
