DPWH job order worker shot dead by riding-in-tandem in Negros Oriental

A Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) job order employee was shot and killed by riding-in-tandem suspects on Friday morning, July 11, in Barangay Inalad, Siaton, Negros Oriental

The victim was identified as Cornelio, 44, a resident of Barangay San Jose in the same town.

According to Police Master Sergeant Jose Mari Tayko of the Siaton Municipal Police Station, the shooting occurred at around 7:30 a.m. while the victim was riding his motorcycle.

Based on a witness account, a gunshot was heard moments before Cornelio was seen lying motionless on the road. The two unidentified suspects fled the scene heading north.

The motive behind the killing remains unclear. Cornelio’s family told authorities he had no known enemies.

Police are continuing their investigation to identify the suspects and determine the reason behind the fatal attack.
