DOST: be disciplined during National Time Consciousness Week

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has encouraged Filipinos to be more disciplined and to respect everyone’s time as the country observes National Time Consciousness Week.

The observance began on January 1 and will run until January 7.

Under the theme “Oras Pinas: Filipino, On Time Ka!”, the DOST, together with the Science and Technology Information Institute (STII) and PAGASA, is jointly promoting the campaign.

The initiative aims to synchronize the time of all Filipinos with the Philippine Standard Time (PhST) as set by PAGASA’s Precise Time-Scale System.

In a statement, the DOST said the campaign also seeks to address the negative culture of “Filipino time” and replace it with a new standard of discipline and respect for other people’s time.

The agency emphasized that by choosing Oras Pinas, individuals are not only following the correct time, but are also showing respect for fellow Filipinos and contributing to economic growth.
