A 27-year-old man stabbed another man to death in Barangay Sta. Rosa, Murcia, Negros Occidental, during a heated argument over a loud motorbike exhaust late on New Year’s Eve.
The victim, Gino Garcia, a local resident, was allegedly attacked by Reynaldo Apisanda Jr., a 33-year-old carpenter from the same barangay, around 11:59 pm on December 31, 2024.
Authorities initially determined that the altercation began when Apisanda confronted Garcia about the noise from his motorbike’s open-pipe exhaust.
The dispute escalated quickly, and Apisanda reportedly used a nine-inch blade to stab Garcia.
Apisanda immediately fled the scene after the incident. However, police apprehended him at a relative’s home around 4:30 pm on New Year’s Day during a follow-up operation, according to Police Lieutenant Leo Anthony Genita, deputy chief of the Murcia Police.
The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations into the incident continue.
