DILG warns public against scammers using SILG Remulla’s name and photo

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) clarified that it is not behind phone calls seeking financial assistance for a supposed foundation allegedly affected by a fire in Bocaue, Bulacan.

This came after the agency discovered that scammers have been approaching several public officials while using the name and photo of Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla to solicit money.

The DILG stressed that the secretary, as well as other offices under the department, does not solicit donations.

Because of this, the agency is advising public officials and the general public to ignore such requests and immediately report similar incidents to the authorities.

Meanwhile, the department is already coordinating with law enforcement agencies to investigate the alleged scammers and hold them accountable.
