The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has directed all local chief executives to enforce forced evacuation in areas severely affected by the ongoing heavy rains caused by the southwest monsoon or Habagat.
Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla emphasized that local governments must prioritize vulnerable groups during evacuation efforts, including children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
In a memorandum, Remulla also instructed the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to assist local government units (LGUs) in implementing orderly evacuations. Both agencies are tasked with helping secure evacuation centers and ensuring residents are safely moved.
The secretary urged the public to heed warnings from their local governments and evacuate immediately when advised.
Remulla also reminded local officials to follow Operation Listo protocols—standard procedures designed to ensure readiness and effective response during natural disasters.
The order comes amid continuous heavy rainfall across parts of Luzon, which has already led to flooding in several low-lying areas.
