The case against former President Rodrigo Duterte now rests in the hands of the judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
This was according to defense counsel Nicholas Kaufman following the final confirmation of charges hearing for his client at the ICC.
After the hearing yesterday, Kaufman said the judges will make their decision based on the evidence presented.
He added that the defense is confident the judges will arrive at the right decision.
Meanwhile, Llore Pasco, mother of two drug war victims, said the prosecution’s arguments seemed to revive the hopes of families of alleged extrajudicial killing (EJK) victims.
She said they were satisfied with the case presented by the prosecutors.
Sheera Escudero, sister of another victim, also said the prosecution was able to effectively convey the voices of the victims’ families.
According to her, the prosecution successfully presented the stories and experiences endured by the families.
The Pre-Trial Chamber I is expected to issue its ruling within 60 days.
