Deadly crash on Marilaque Highway: 1 dead, 7 injured

One person was killed, and seven others were injured after two speeding motorcycles collided on the infamous curve of Marilaque Highway in Tanay, Rizal.

Viral videos of the accident showed both riders losing control as they leaned into the turn. Their motorcycles collided, sending them crashing onto the pavement. The impact caused them to be thrown off their bikes, hitting bystanders watching from the roadside.

Authorities said the high speed of both motorcycles contributed to the severity of the crash.

Following the incident, Senator Raffy Tulfo urged the Philippine National Police (PNP) to tighten security in the area, citing the increasing number of accidents. Marilaque Highway has become notorious among motorcycle enthusiasts, with many allegedly treating it as an illegal racetrack.

The local government of Tanay has called for a meeting to discuss possible safety measures, especially since the highway has become a hotspot for moto vloggers and extreme riders.
