Davao City road crash leaves 2 dead, 6 hurt

A road crash claimed two lives and injured six others Sunday afternoon after a pick-up truck encroached into the opposite lane along the Davao-Bukidnon Road in Sitio Lanitum, Barangay Suawan, Marilog District, Davao City

The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. when a pickup truck, driven by 76-year-old Pescadero Fabio Jr. Ferraren, lost control on a curved accident-prone area and collided head-on with a tricycle driven by 26-year-old Leonel Rizada Sestoso.

Sestoso, a resident of Barangay Marilog, was declared dead on the spot by Central 911 responders. His seven passengers—identified as Hanenlyn Dalipe Suarez, 30; Lovely Mae Dalipe, 28; Rylle Fabio Angelo Abordaje, 6; Shiela Mae Nalugan, 28; Jovelyn Buisan Maderse, 30; Cyra Maderse, 3; and Sam Anya Lucero, 6—sustained multiple injuries and were rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center.

Tragically, six-year-old Sam Anya Lucero was pronounced dead at SPMC around 9:10 p.m. while undergoing treatment, according to a report filed by a relative.

Authorities noted that no official OR/CR documents were presented for either vehicle. Follow-up investigations into the incident are ongoing.
